Established in 1987, GKD Matriculation Higher Secondary School is situated at Periyanaickenpalayam, a serene and rapidly developing suburb located about 20 kilometres from Coimbatore. Since its inception, the institution has remained committed to providing quality education in a disciplined, caring, and value-based environment that inspires students to achieve academic excellence and grow into confident and responsible individuals.
The school believes that education extends beyond textbooks and examinations. With a strong emphasis on holistic development, students are encouraged to cultivate leadership qualities, creativity, critical thinking, communication skills, and social responsibility. A dedicated team of experienced and passionate teachers strives to create a positive learning atmosphere where every child is motivated to discover and develop their unique potential.
Spread across a spacious 7-acre campus, along with a separate 4-acre playground, the institution provides a safe, vibrant, and student-friendly environment that supports both academic and co-curricular excellence. The expansive playground features a 400-meter athletic track and excellent facilities for sports and games, encouraging students to actively participate in athletics, physical fitness activities, and team sports. The school strongly believes that sports and extracurricular activities play an important role in building discipline, teamwork, confidence, and character.
Recognized by the Government of Tamil Nadu, the institution offers education from Lower Kindergarten (LKG) to Standard XII and follows the Common Syllabus prescribed by the Department of School Education, Government of Tamil Nadu. As a co-educational institution, the school fosters an inclusive learning environment that promotes equality, collaboration, mutual respect, and meaningful interactions among students from diverse backgrounds.

English is the primary medium of instruction, ensuring students are well-equipped for higher education and global communication. Tamil is taught as a compulsory second language, while Hindi is offered as a supplementary language from Standards III to VIII. For Higher Secondary students, French is available as an optional language, enriching linguistic and cultural learning opportunities.

The school is proudly promoted by LMW Limited (formerly Lakshmi Machine Works Limited), a globally renowned engineering and manufacturing group with diversified business interests and a strong legacy of excellence, innovation, and social commitment.
The institution was established in 1987 to commemorate the Silver Jubilee celebrations of LMW Limited by its founder, Cavalier Dr. G. K. Devarajulu, a distinguished industrial pioneer and visionary leader. Guided by his belief in the transformative power of quality education, the institution was founded with a commitment to serving the community and nurturing future generations, a vision that continues to inspire its growth and excellence today.
The legacy and vision of the founder were further strengthened by Late Dr. D. Jayavarthanavelu, former Chairman and Managing Director of LMW Limited, whose dynamic leadership, progressive outlook, and unwavering commitment to education played a pivotal role in the institution’s growth and development. Under his guidance, the school continued to uphold the values of academic excellence, discipline, and holistic development, while adapting to the evolving needs of modern education.
Today, under the visionary leadership of Shri. Sanjay Jayavarthanavelu, Chairman and Managing Director of LMW Limited, the school continues to uphold the highest standards of education, discipline, and administration. His unwavering commitment to excellence, innovation, and progressive educational values serves as a constant source of inspiration and guidance for the institution’s sustained growth and development. Under his guidance, the institution continues to strengthen its legacy of academic distinction while fostering values, leadership qualities, creativity, and social responsibility among students, preparing them to meet the challenges of an ever-evolving world with confidence and integrity.
Continuing this proud tradition of excellence, Mr S. Rajasekaran, President (Operations), Textile Machinery Division, LMW Limited, serves as the Correspondent of the school, providing dynamic leadership and strategic direction for its continued progress and development. With his strong commitment to quality education, disciplined administration, and institutional advancement, he plays a vital role in strengthening the school’s vision and mission. His focus on continuous improvement and future-oriented learning ensures that the school remains aligned with the evolving educational landscape while preserving its strong values and rich legacy.
Today, under the dynamic leadership of Principal Smt. Indra Ramesh, the school continues to uphold its proud legacy while embracing progressive and innovative educational practices. Guided by a forward-looking vision and an uncompromising commitment to excellence, the institution remains dedicated to nurturing confident, responsible, and accomplished individuals equipped to excel in an ever-evolving world.
The institution also gratefully acknowledges the dedicated services of Late Shri. R. Venkatrangappan, former Chairman of LMW Limited, who served as the Correspondent of the institution for over twenty-five years. His visionary guidance and steadfast commitment played a significant role in transforming the school into a distinguished center of learning in the industrial suburb of Coimbatore.
The institution also acknowledges, the invaluable contributions of its founder Principal, Smt. Prasanna Radhakrishnan, whose inspiring leadership and unwavering dedication to education left an enduring impact on generations of students and faculty members. She retired in 2021 after serving as Executive Secretary and was honoured with the prestigious Dr. Radhakrishnan Award by the Government of Tamil Nadu, along with several other accolades recognizing her outstanding contributions to teaching and school administration.
