Student Bodies: Houses
The
students are grouped under four houses – RUBY,
EMERALD, SAPPHIRE and TOPAZ houses. In order to encourage
the extra-curricular talents of the students and encourage
their maximum participation, various inter-house competitions
are conducted throughout the year.
Drawing, painting, fancy parade, spelling bee, poetry
recitation, declamation in languages, quiz, rangoli,
kolam, story-telling, Hindi dhohas, debate and slogan
writing are the areas explored by the students with
vigour and enthusiasm.
Co- Curricular Activities
The school offers the maximum opportunity to encourage
the students to exemplify themselves in the art of Karate,
Dance, Craftwork, Painting and other creative co-curricular
activities.
The best-applauded GKD BAND troupe is at full swing
and enthusiasm on all the significant days of the
school.
Celebrations
Founders Day:
The school pays its respectful homage on every 26th
October, the birth anniversary of the founder, late
Cav. Dr.G.K.Devarajulu. The school
organises inter-school oratorical competition in Tamil
and English languages. All the national festivals are
celebrated in order to instill the spirit of patriotism
in the minds of the future pillars of the nation.
Sports
The physical education maintains personal fitness
as well as develops skills and attitudes consistent
with the school’s philosophy such as leadership,
sportsmanship, independence and co-operation. There
is no dearth of equipments for the development of
indoor and outdoor games. The 400-m track inspires
the children to excel in athletic events and soar
high to represent at zonal, district and state levels.
The school organises athletic meet among matriculation
schools at district-level.
The
special summer coaching provides ample opportunity for
the interested students to nurture their skills in the
most desired games such as Handball, Football, Volleyball,
Hockey, Ball Badminton etc.
Cav. Dr. G.K. Devarajulu Memorial Athletic Meet of
Coimbatore Educational District was inaugurated on 23
rd June 2006 in the renovated 100 mts track, which is
the proud possession of the institution. Mrs. P.T. Usha,
the Sprint Queen, the Golden Lady of India was the Chief
Guest of the meet. She honoured the prize winners.
GKD - Gym Centre

Education is the process of developing the all round
personality of an individual. In order to improve the
physical fitness of the students, GKD school has set
up a gymnasium centre. The main purpose for establishing
the gymnasium centre in the school is to realise the
importance of “Physically fit to exemplify mentally
brisk
Students and staff make use of the gym to get a sound
mind in a sound body.
